Many of the images displayed on this site are available for purchase as fine art giclée photographic prints, suitable for framing. Prints are produced in-house by Chris Howes to the highest standard, using archival pigment inks rated to resist fading for in excess of 85 years on matched fibre-based paper (a lower value is assigned to the same inks on ‘photographic’ paper).

Limited edition signed fine art prints are available on matt, fibre-based papers, in which case the image area will not extend to the edge of the paper to allow room for the signature. Unsigned prints will extend nearly to the edge of high-quality satin surface giclée digital photographic paper or matt smooth or textured archival paper. For images of different shapes (such as panoramic images), more of the area will be left unprinted. Both are suitable for matting and framing: prints based on paper close to 30cm by 42cm (A3) are perfect for display in a standard-size 40cm by 50cm frame.

The archival fibre-based paper we use is acid free and pH neutral, being manufactured to the highest standards without the use of optical brighteners (which are sometimes used to attain a white background in cheaper papers). The paper is resistant to moisture and scuff resistant but, as with all fine art prints and photographic images, good display conditions are required to not only show off the picture to best effect, but also to increase its longevity: bright sunlight, heat, humidity and handling are detrimental to any photograph. Framed under glass and hung out of direct sunlight is the best way to display archival prints.

To order a print please contact us with your request, describing the image and quoting its gallery (which page it is on) and image number (the image number appears to the bottom left of the image, in the form of 5/20 – fifth image of twenty – when hovering over a slideshow). Not all images may be available (some originate from transparencies and may be limited in print size due to quality concerns, or limits may have been reached on print numbers, for example), but some examples appear on this page (including the black-framed print below).

For A3 sizes, prices  for unsigned prints on a giclée photographic paper begin at £45. A professionally framed A3 print, mounted and matted similar to the one above and signed on the mount, begins at £160; these prices include VAT but not p&p. Other framing options (such as using non-reflective or different quality glass as well as other sizes) are available so please discuss your requirements.
